I live in a garage without plumbing so a toilet like this that works properly and doesn’t leak is essential. I was a little iffy after having bought four other toilets from other companies that all leaked and then I saw this one and I did read one comment with a complaint of leaking so I was excruciatingly worried going into this. However this is the best toilet by far! We use it daily and it does NOT leak at all! Also comparing to toilets of the past this one is amazing because so far having owned it a couple of months when you flush it does NOT spray water back at you which is amazing. (For people that do have that problem just keep the toilet seat down and don’t get a toilet cover and clean frequently) The other huge plus is that a toilet seat cover can also be fitted for comfort on this model as seen in pictures, a standard sized one, and it’s easy to remove and wash. Got one on vipon for a couple dollars using the Home Essentials Direct code from vipon. It really helps with the feel that this is a real toilet with plumbing. As for dumping I love this toilet, for how it doesn’t have a fold out spout which in my experience usually becomes a leaking problem in the future. This one is just a screw off cap for easy disposal of wastes. We do not go number two in this, but walk the distance to a house with plumbing for that. We do however go number one (pee) in this everyday for over two months and a family of three with guests every now and then and it works great! The seal that you push open to flush is just wonderful and that it doesn’t even leak through. With my old toilet the urine would drain down into the basin before I even opened the lever to flush it down and this one does not. It stays put only until you flush. That is very nice. The flusher on this toilet is really nice but if I had to think of one thing negative, it would be that this flusher doesn’t always adequately flush it on one flush. (Which is one pump pushing down) It’s a small Vice, but totally workable but basically you just have to flush or pump the flusher a couple of times especially if you did a small pee when there is more toilet paper than pee. **Advice to those that have never owned one of these: Make sure you thoroughly flush toilet paper down the hatch into the basin. Talk to your kids and make sure of this because speaking with experience it’s really bad for the toilet paper to get caught in the gasket and that’s when sometimes leaking or draining problems ensue. ** Just make sure all toilet paper is throughly flushed well.**. **Another tip is if using daily always dump on the third day. You don’t want it to get too full. In my experience that is another reason for leaking problems when letting the tank get too full. ** I will be giving an update if I have any issues. It's very private back there if you back up to a building or some trees. The product is durable, and very easy to clean, and I would buy it again but there are some improvements that would be nice. The two lock down handles that holds the clean tank to the dirty tank seem like they could be improved. They have come apart on me but fortunately it didn't fall far and the tanks are thick and durable. The sliding valve between the two tanks makes me a bit nervous because it doesn't have a latch/lock position. Seems like it could come open on me and cover me in stuff i don't want on me, but it hasn't. I did have that problem with a different issue that was my fault. I did not check the waste tank cap before the first use and the cap was not tight from the factory. The cap is pretty awesome and i can get it super tight, in fact it gets so tight i cannot open it. I use a trick with a dish towel, roll it lengthwise and wrap it around the cap and use it as a wrench. But maybe a bump or two molded into the cap would allow me more leverage. Overall it works great though. The kids (5-8yr old girls) are not all strong enough to push the flush plunger but I help them. Contains the smells as well as you could expect if you use the chemical tablets. We really only use it for day trips for the 5 of us. But it has given us the freedom to get out and it's well worth the price! I also bought a pop up tent to use as an outhouse but the back of the minivan is easier and doesn't draw anyone's attention. We have a Promaster that we converted into a travel van. We did not want to mess w/ water tanks (winterizing, etc), so we use portable water tanks and purchased this portable toilet. Here is our experience: Pros: -Compact size, but height is still good enough (I'm 5'3", hubby is 6'1"). Here is our experience: Pros: -Compact size, but height is still good enough (I'm 5'3", hubby is 6'1"). We may, at some point, build a small platform to raise the potty a bit more. -Decent seat size -Not too heavy to move around (as when filling w/ water, emptying bottom tank) -Fairly easy to empty bottom tank and clean out -No odor detected--although we did use a tank deodorizer tab and only use the potty for #1) Cons: -During transit, the connection for the bottom tank must have loosened due to jostling on our drive--which was just highway driving. This caused a rather messy puddle of blue porta-potty water to leak onto the floor. I'm not sure if this sort of problem can really be blamed on design, but it was a nasty mess. After that, we were careful to periodically check and make sure everything was fastened tightly. -During transit, there is jostling--even on the smoothest roads. With the chemical in the tank, this can cause a bit of a build-up of pressure. Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way. After using the potty and reaching down to pull the handle to flush, the pressure that was built up in the bottom tank caused a nice geyser of water, urine, and blue stuff to spray all over me. Not cool--and ewwwww!!!!!! After that point, we made sure to gently and very slowly release the handle to flush and always flushed with the lid down. Again, I'm not really sure that I can blame this on design, as I'm thinking this could happen with other models also. One other tip: You will need to find a way to secure this if using it as an RV travel toilet. It's not heavy enough to stay in place on its own--especially if making a tight turn or if you're traveling on a bumpy or winding road. Hope this helps!  Read Less

I ended up deciding to see what it was like to use it for solid waste (see, that is what you really want to know about). I used it several times in that capacity and after several days I emptied the black water tank. - When I emptied the black water tank I gagged multiple times from the smell (holy sh*t! - literally). Which is a true testament to how well this toilet works, and yes, I put in the chemicals. - Septic friendly (single-ply) toilet paper seems to be the best option, so while it might not be luxurious, it will do better in the system. - Due to the aforementioned gagging I *really* recommend not using this for solid waste unless your olfactory senses are severely compromised and you won't care (or you just like gagging... we all have our things). - Should you need to use this for solid waste, consider emptying it at your earliest convenience. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this purchase and I hope you will be too. PS - every once in a while you see a review about this toilet that says that it leaks, or the seals aren't quite right. Be smart like I was and run water through the system and shake it around to make sure it's water tight. That way you can swap it unused if you get an imperfect one.  Read Less
