American Standard

American Standard traces its roots to the Standard Sanitary Manufacturing Company, formed in 1899 in Pittsburgh. In 1929 it merged with American Radiator to become American Radiator & Standard Sanitary Corporation, adopting the American Standard name in 1967. The plumbing and fixtures business was sold in 2007 to Bain Capital; in 2008 it combined with Crane Plumbing and Eljer as American Standard Brands. In 2013 the company was acquired by Japan’s LIXIL Group. Headquartered in Piscataway, New Jersey, the brand has evolved from early enameled and vitreous-china sanitaryware to a broad line of toilets emphasizing reliable flushing and water efficiency. Today it serves residential and commercial markets across North America under the LIXIL Americas umbrella.
