Verdict
The Separett Villa® stands out as a reliable composting toilet that prioritizes eco-friendly and waterless operation, making it well-suited for off-grid or environmentally conscious users. Its silent and odorless function alongside urine diversion enhances user comfort, though the product's overall feature set is relatively basic without advanced flushing or bidet options. The elongated bowl and recyclable polypropylene construction contribute positively to its practical design, though some mounting and installation aspects may require extra attention. Ideal for those seeking a simple, sustainable solution, the Separett Villa® offers dependable performance with a focus on environmental responsibility, albeit with modest design sophistication and limited high-tech features.

Not just any Seat!
Who would have thought you could have so much to say about an outhouse toilet seat. Search no further if you are looking to upgrade the comfort level ( especially in colder climates) and for use in odour control. In combination of the added seat over with the venting of your outhouse, makes the privy a nice place to be. The supreme comfort and warmth of the seat when thing get cold is a luxury you never thought you needed. This replaces all the cold plastic, wooded and even cushioned seats. Warms almost instantly with you own body heat. It has to be used to see for yourself. Add this small level of comfort to any outdoor privy and the stigma of an outdoor facility goes away!
Works Well
I have no problems with the toilet itself. There is no lingering odor which is what I was concerned about. You may need to recenter the toilet seat. It is on a single axle that snaps into receivers on the body of the toilet. The hole for the fan's power cord is dead center in the back of the unit under a ledge. We had great difficulty finding it. I recommend running the cord to the fan before bolting the toilet to the floor. The drill is not a recommendation; it is a necessity! You have to drill the holes in the bottom of the toilet yourself. The only real problem I have is probably rather odd. At my age, I cannot sit down to pee. It just feels wrong somehow. LOL!
A great way to build your own composting toilet
I purchased this product to build a more esthetically pleasing compost toilet setup for my tiny home. It’s a cheap and easy alternative to complete composting toilets and gives you the freedom to design your toilet to best suit your space. The separating system reduces the frequency of cleaning out solid waste and gives the opportunity to store than dilute the liquid waste to use for watering trees and vegetation (not food crops). Recommend strongly.
Here it is the 1st of June and I figure I have given this a good trial. I have had the seat far forward and as far back as possible and either way it's like musical chairs to get items #1 and #2 in the correct place. Recently when changing buckets, I discovered a wire clip or spring on the inside floor of the Separette villa. I have no idea where it belongs. Also, the blue gasket in the pipe from the unit to the outgoing pipe is not tight and can move when the unit is in use. This of course leak...
This of course leaks the smell into the bathroom. I clean the filter on the motor at least once, sometimes twice every month and I am still able, at times, to smell the waste when I (or guests) walk past the bathroom, embarrassing. I am mostly disappointed with the noise the fan motor makes. I was told it would sound about like a computer fan. Well let me tell you it is louder than that and I have even tried to put extra padding under the unit to stop the sound from traveling through the cabin. My cabin is 11 meters long and 3 meters wide with the toilet at one end and my bedroom at the other and I still hear it. Other than the above....it looks good and does the job (no pun intended). A rather expensive toilet for all the disappointments.

- “There is usually a quick one second burst of cold water at the beginning but then it provides warm water so you never run out.”

- “It would be a bit of a shock if the wash started cold, but since it starts warm I barely notice that it goes to cold as the procedure goes on.”
