Spent Money To Make It Work
You can't see it from any of the pics on the site, but the tank sits on top of two little lips that are on the toilet. (I've included pics) This does two things. First, it keeps it up off the toilet ever so slightly which means eventually dust and junk are going to get under it. Second, the tank-to-bowl seal or sometimes called flange cannot sit into the tank as fully as it could. This was discovered after I put it all together and did a test flush and water went everywhere between the tank and...
You can't see it from any of the pics on the site, but the tank sits on top of two little lips that are on the toilet. (I've included pics) This does two things. First, it keeps it up off the toilet ever so slightly which means eventually dust and junk are going to get under it. Second, the tank-to-bowl seal or sometimes called flange cannot sit into the tank as fully as it could. This was discovered after I put it all together and did a test flush and water went everywhere between the tank and toilet. I measured the flange and it was only 1/4 inch out of the tank. Then, with it lifted up about an 1/8 inch, there's barely any opportunity for it to sit into the hole. I ended up going back to Lowe's and buying a rubber toilet gasket which gave it more circumference and depth and that fixed the problem. Of course, it doesn't fix the weird look being up on those little lips, but I guess that's what you get for a $95 toilet. But, to add it insult to injury, two parts were missing. The plastic t screw downs and the covers for the T-bolts that go from the floor to the bowl. I called the customer service number, they were very friendly and are going to send out another set, but again, it was just one more thing.
Best bang for the buck
We now have three of these in place. These Pro-Source toilets have really been re-engineered to work well. They have the three inch flapper we love. Everything is so interchangeable as they come with FluidMaster components already installed I anticipate an easy swap out fix when the time comes. We love the chair height and the low use of water. Note: we did have an issue previously mentioned where one of the tank lids did not match up well with the tank. I called the 800 number and they were very responsive. Problem solved.
Good Quality. Good Price.
The toilet came with most of the items needed for installation. Quality is good for the price. The only issue is that the water tank only fills about half full. The overflow tube is short which prevents you from adjusting for more water. This is because of the stupid regulations concerning water use. With these toilets you have to flush twice most of the time, using more water than the old models did. Another example of government making a problem worse instead of better.
Modern toilet.
I have been a maintenance man for 25 years and have installed hundreds of toilets. I wish I had toilets this good. Everything you need is in the box.Wax ring,bolts, and even a plastic toilet seat.I don't like plastic toilet seats. I'm amazed as to how this toilet flushes. It's very fast and uses a fraction of the water the older toilets used. The height is perfect. If you have an older toilet, replace it. I recommend going to YouTube and watching how easy it is to replace a toilet.
